This is the result of my latest experimentation, a high-quality low distortion transformer plasma arc speaker ("singing arc"). A PWM audio modulation circuit (TL494) runs at 40kHz, drives two mosfets in phase in a "half-controlled fullbridge" fashion (two switch single pulse forward-flyback converter). A RC damping network on the primary gets rid of unwanted oscillations during the free-wheeling phase. As always, the camera distorts the sound a bit and cuts treble, it sounds cleaner in real life.
