Agostino d'Ippona (latino: Aurelius[1] Augustinus Hipponensis; Tagaste, 13 novembre 354 -- Ippona, 28 agosto 430) è stato un filosofo, vescovo cattolico e teologo berbero.[2] Padre, dottore e santo della Chiesa cattolica, è conosciuto semplicemente come sant'Agostino, detto anche Doctor Gratiae ("Dottore della Grazia"). Secondo Antonio Livi, filosofo, editore e saggista italiano di orientamento cattolico, è stato «il massimo pensatore cristiano del primo millennio e certamente anche uno dei più grandi geni dell'umanità in assoluto».[3] Le Confessioni sono la sua opera più celebre. La vita di Agostino è stata tramandata con grande dettaglio nella sua opera Confessioni, sua storia morale, nelle sue Ritrattazioni, che descrivono l'evoluzione del suo pensiero, e nella Vita di Agostino, scritta dal suo amico Possidio, che narra l'apostolato del santo. Dalla nascita alla conversione (354-387) [modifica] Agostino, di etnia berbera,[2] ma di cultura totalmente ellenistico-romana, nacque a Tagaste il 13 novembre 354. Tagaste, attualmente Souk Ahras in Algeria, posta a circa 100 km a sud-ovest di Ippona, era a quei tempi una piccola città libera della Numidia proconsolare recentemente convertita al Donatismo. Anche se molto rispettabile, la sua famiglia non era ricca, e suo padre, Patrizio, uno dei curiales (consiglieri municipali) della città, era un pagano; alla lunga però, per influenza di Monica sua moglie, e madre di Agostino, Patrizio giunse alla conversione.

Built in SD Card Reader Handsome Sound Quality and Clarity - All Functional Keys plus EQ I paid £7.50 for this on eBay brand new. Good things: Insanely loud via MicroSD slot EQ that actually makes music sound better Fine grained volume control Well packaged Excellent quality all metal construction, very weighty, feels rather premium Hidden feature that wasn't described anywhere I could find, if it's plugged in via miniUSB, 1. It charges, 2. It allows you access to the files on the microSD, and 3 (and most amazingly) it acts as a USB sound card, allowing you to play your music through the USB cable. Sound quality is much better than any inbuilt solution, but is lacking a little in bass. I'd personally put this ahead of the x-mini speaker because the x-mini speakers focus much more and providing insane bass rather than overall sound quality. This thing is a little lacking in bass but the mids and uppers are pretty great. Great for most styles of music that isn't massively bass heavy. Hilarious Chinglish instruction manual (these are always great!) Bad things: Line in port is great, but is underamplified, if it is plugged into a weak source such as a mobile phone, the speaker is much quieter than it ...

Agostino, gradualmente, conobbe la dottrina cristiana e, nella sua mente, iniziarono a fondersi la filosofia platonica ed i dogmi rivelati. La solitudine di Cassiciacum gli permise di realizzare un sogno a lungo inseguito: nei suoi libri Contra academicos, Agostino descrisse la serenità ideale di questa esistenza, animata solamente dalla passione per la verità. Inoltre completò l'istruzione dei suoi giovani amici, ora con letture in comune, ora con conferenze filosofiche alle quali, qualche volta, invitava anche Monica, ed i cui racconti, trascritti da un segretario, furono la base dei "Dialoghi". Licenzio avrebbe ricordato in seguito nelle sue Lettere le mattinate e le serate di filosofia durante le quali Agostino era solito intraprendere disquisizioni che si elevavano molto al di sopra dei luoghi comuni. I temi favoriti di queste conferenze erano la verità, la certezza (Contra academicos), la vera felicità nella filosofia (De beata vita), l'ordine provvidenziale del mondo e la sua perfezione matematica (De Musica), il problema del male (De ordine) ed infine Dio e l'anima (Soliloquia, De immortalitate animae). Verso l'inizio della quaresima del 387, Agostino si recò a Milano dove, con Adeodato ed Alipio, prese posto fra i competentes per essere battezzato da Ambrogio nella Veglia pasquale.[14] Fu a questo punto che Agostino, Alipio, ed Evodio decisero di ritirarsi nella solitudine dell'Africa.
