Wharfedale W60 2-way alnico speakers and War (Turn volume up on this... Level is low)

Wharfedale W60 2-way alnico speakers and War (Turn volume up on this... Level is low) Tube. Duration : 2.05 Mins.

Early '60's, 2-way Wharfedale W60's with alnico drivers. Warm, smooth speakers with very-full, extremely-musical, lifelike mids and highs (And they're not in-your-face-sounding at all). These speakers don't get very-low, but they make up for it with a tight, precise upper-bass, and they have outstanding dynamics. Excellent transient-response and snap, even at low volumes. Very-good with old-school funky stuff like James Brown, the JB's, the Meters, and basically any funk band (Like the other Briggs-era models, the 2-way W60's are perfect for reproducing horn instruments... Timbre is spot-on). Blues stuff sounds great. R&B sounds great, old-school rap sounds great, and classical and jazz sound friggin' delightful. This isn't a speaker for cranking at keg parties. This is a speaker for kickin' back, breakin' out the chillum (or whatever), and switching the body to "Veg-Mode"... Check out the W60 videos that LaJazz Audio uploaded (There's probably one to your right), and then compare them to the LaJazz videos of OTHER similarly-sized speakers and see which you think sounds better. IMO, the Briggs-era Wharfedale models are the most-underrated vintage speakers ever made (and the Briggs-era alnico drivers the most-underrated raw drivers). Like a combination of Bozak and Goodmans (That's the best way I can describe it, but that's how they sound... Perfect). Boy, this sounds pretty-good through the headphones... even if the volume is too-low. BTW, I got my W90's home finally, and ...

Jensen P8P 8" inch 1950s all alnico paper phenolic drivers

Jensen P8P 8" inch 1950s all alnico paper phenolic drivers Tube. Duration : 3.62 Mins.

Copyright 2011 -- www.HiFiTown.com - ... Tested with a NAD 3020 and vintage 16bit DAC CD player. An inspection and test of the famous Jensen P8P 8 inch speakers. These cover a different freq response curve than the Western Electric 755A, so it's no fair to compare. A very good choice for any top-end 2 or 3 way all cone driver, open baffle system. Produced only during a brief period and not sold to the public, no were they used in any home hifi systems. Some of the most efficient midrange drivers you can find. The crisp paper / silk cone is controlled by a huge 5lb's worth of ALNICO magnet. Visit HiFiTown.com for more antique audio videos.
