The hugely powerful engine that lives in the S550 is a twin-turbo 4.6 liter V-8. This bad boy pumps out 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. All that power is transmitted to the wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission. You can get the S550 in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. 0-60 MPH is eclipsed in only 4.9 seconds. This is true sports car performance out of a large high-end luxury sedan. Fuel economy is surprisingly good at 15 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. To provide a luxurious ride you would expect from a high-end luxury car, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S550 has a few tricks up its sleeve. First the AIRMATIC active suspension is computer controlled and will adjust to the road conditions. There are 2 setting: Comfort and Sport.
