Before going any further, answer a couple of questions Are you looking for a projector to 1- Watch movies in the backyard or while camping 2- You want to call your buddies over to watch Superbowl or HD movies If your goal is to watch movies in the backyard or movies with your kids - you are certainly in luck. However, if you are looking for a projector to watch the Superbowl, high-end video games, or for a home entertainment system you will sorely disappointed. The key is, what are you expectations? The Discovery Expedition Projector is a very basic, inexpensive projector that is easy to set-up but lacks the picture quality you would need for a home entertainment system. Notes - The overall contrast is ok, at best. The whites have a tendency to washout even when viewed in the darkest rooms. The whites seem to "Bloom" out and kills the overall contrast. As you can see in the video, the washout hurts the viewing quality but it will be *good enough* for backyard viewing. - The picture is grainy, but that is to be expected due to fact that it is not in HD (remember you are using a standard RCA input). Also, you are blowing the picture which will naturally cause the picture to become grainy. However, the further you are from the screen the less "grainy" the picture becomes. - Sound quality - barely acceptable - HOWEVER - you don't need to use the speaker in the projector.
